Known for his beautiful and emotional voice, Hazzan Netanel Askari's passion for middle-eastern music was brought out at a very young age. His teachers, the great masters Hazzan Refael Y. Elnadav A"H, and Ybdlh"t Rav Yosef Nuri saw in him unique musical talent and potential.
Growing up in Brooklyn's Sephardic communities followed by many years in Israel gave Hazzan Netanel Askari deep exposure to Syrian, Persian, Moroccan and Yerushalmi tunes, traditions and nuances.
What makes Hazzan Netanel Askari even more unique is his deep grasp of the intricate Makam and transposition theories at a note level, and his ability to give over this knowledge to his students in a clear and concise way.
Hazzan Netanel Askari has over 12 years' experience officiating as weekly Hazzan for Shabbats, and High Holidays, both in New York and Israel. He has inspired hundreds through his tefillah and taught tens of students some of whom went on to become Hazzanim and musicians themselves. He also plays the violin.
Hazzan Netanel Askari sees it as one of his life's missions to draw people closer to Hashem via music, along with bringing new vibrancy, excitement and feeling to Sephardic prayer.
